DAVID!!

IT'S CHRISTMAS, DAVID!
What luck this book arrived a few days before Christmas. What fun for me to sit on the couch with my three year old Paige snuggled next to me as we read the current adventures of David -- on Christmas morning together!
As usual, David is a little stinker and it being Christmas time is no exception. David is playing with tree ornaments, looking for his presents, sneaking cookies, being a bad little boy! And Santa is watching, but David just can't help himself.
On one page we saw David streaking down the street dressed only in a Christmas hat! When I asked Paige if he was being a bad boy she said YES, YOU SHOULD ONLY RUN AROUND NAKED IN YOUR HOUSE! Out of the mouth of babes!
Does David get presents from Santa for being a good boy? Or has David been so bad that he receives nothing but a big old lump of coal? Read the book with your babies and find out!
As usual, the illustrations are wonderfully life-like and definitely kid oriented. David's facial expressions speak volumes. My personal favorite picture was of David in his pajamas looking out his window into the night, searching for the man in red. What a great book to give to those kids in your life any time of the year, but especially at Christmas time!
David is always a joy to bring into your house.

Another great addition to your 'David' library

We own all of the previous David books, and my daughter was thrilled when this latest addition arrived. David is up to his usual antics, although with a holiday twist. Plain, simple language and bright eye-catching illustrations capture the essence of how hard it can be to be on one's best behavior when tempted by all the holiday fun and goodies. David plays with the ornaments on the tree, snitches cookies, and runs bare (almost) through the neighborhood. I think the author does a wonderful job of showing that even when a child tries so hard to be good, it's really hard sometimes. Some parents may be less than thrilled with the writing of his name in the snow or the fact that even though he's been naughty all year, in the end Santa comes through with a pile of Christmas goodness. However my daughter and I have always thought that the overall message of the David books was love and acceptance; in the end, he's loved no matter his faults. It's not my favorite of the David books, but my daughter rates it 5 stars.

It's David...at Christmas

The "David" books are simple books about the mischevious boy named David. The original featured him getting in trouble at school. This features David wreaking lovable havoc at Christmas. The kids dig it. The "David" stories aren't big on plot, just entertaining scenarios for the kids. If your kids loved the first David book, get it. If they thought it was so-so, check it out from the library.
