is 1500 pages and not immediately useful for most physicians

Key book for ad avanced professional level understanding re vaccines. Caution... is 1500 pages and not immediately useful for most physicians, nurses or students. For most purposes, an excellent free book re vaccines with all the needed essentials is simply the CDC "Pink Book" on the Epidemiology of Vaccine Preventable Diseases (http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/pubs/pinkbook/index.html). which runs to about 300 pages + about 100 pages of appendixes so sufficient for most purposes. But for a researcher or a consultant or someone who has to give talks to professional groups about vaccines then this book edited by Plotkin, Orenstein and Offit book does indeed remain an essential reference.

Excellent book: COMPREHENSIVE guide on the science of vaccines today. This is literally the largest textbook I've ever seen! Great information, written at a professional level.
